Lou Malnati's was convinent since they're open later than most pizza places in the area. I got a large thin crust. I'll be honest, the pizza wasn't what I personally like in a pizza. The pepperoni wasn't distributed well, the sauce was a little sweet for my liking, and the cheese wasn't very melty, I did like the crust texture. When I got there I had to wait for the pizza which is totally fine, but by the time I got the pizza home it wasn't even warm. Though I think the most disappointing thing was the price vs qty. Usually when my boyfriend and I get a large pizza we have some left overs. This time we didn't and my boyfriend definitely could've eaten more.

We ordered using Ubereats because they had a buy 1 get 1 free special. We got the cheese deep dish. This pizza was so underwhelming. The potential was there with the cheese pull and the crust. But there was absolutely no seasoning at all! No salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, Italian seasoning nothing! We had high hopes but it feel flat. Oh also, they didn’t cut the pizzas. Which was weird, not sure if that is normal. We were in a hotel and didn’t have proper utensils. We needed up using a plastic knife.

I ordered a Margherita pesto deep dish pizza, two cheese deep dish pizzas, and a triple pepperoni deep dish pizza. I waited an additional 12-15 minutes in the lobby, past the ready time. The pizzas did not have cheese as advertised or tomato sauce. There was no cheese pull. I have a drive of less than 5 minutes home. It was uncut so it should've had a cheese pull but with barely ANY cheese that wasn’t the case. The pepperonis were not all crispy. I don’t believe pizzas were cooked all the way despite it not being ready on time. All pizzas were primarily of crust. I paid $40+ and did not receive what is being advertised. I felt taken advantage of, mislead, and mostly angry/disappointed.

The rating is so high due to my combined experience (food and service of this location, today.) Anyway, I visited this location today and got my Lou Malnati’s “usual;” deep dish veggie. Long story short the pizza dough was “gummy.” Initially, I thought it was extra, EXTRA cheese on my pizza. Nope! Just gummy-ness. I’m the customer who visits “chain” restaurants, that have multiple locations locally or nation wide... Not only am I tired of having an inconsistent experience at these restaurants, but these chains need to make sure EVERY location tastes as SIMILAR as possible. McDonald’s fish sandwich, or egg and cheese McGriddle taste VERY similar in Illinois as it does in Texas, Indiana, etc. There’s not a DRASTIC taste difference, like the restaurants I’ve been visiting lately, that are chain restaurants. But anyway, I had to throw away most of my pizza due to the dough being undone / gummy. I’ve visited this location twice in the past and didn’t have THIS issue. The first time, the pizza was perfect! The second time, the pizza tasted bland, so I haven’t been back in over a year, I believe. Gummy dough is an avoidable issue.

Great, Chicago-style deep dish pizza...way better than Giordano's, in my opinion! The crust is softer and airier than Giordano's, making it easier to eat with better flavor. The only downfall is that it is carry-out only. Service was great, though, and the front of the house team even recognized that I am a visitor to the area and made sure to provide me with plates, utensils, etc. since I was staying in a hotel. Highly recommend Lou Malnati's if you're in the area and looking for authentic Chicago-style deep dish!
